Volunteer your time and skills »
Volunteering is a very rewarding way of supporting your favourite cause. What’s more, volunteering can be a fun way to meet new people, gain new skills and useful experiences.
There are many different forms of volunteering: it can be helping out at your local school or community centre, assisting a sick or elderly neighbour, volunteering in a charity shop, managing a group’s website or offering your professional services pro bono. The opportunities are endless.
You can volunteer for a specific event, a few hours a month or even full-time. Before you volunteer ask yourself:
- What do I feel passionate about? (browse the videos on this site to find a cause that matters to you)
- How much time can I realistically give?
- Do I have any specific skills that could be useful to a charity, club or association?
Take Action:
Visit www.volunteer.ie to find your local volunteer centre and apply to volunteer with one of the 6,000 live opportunities posted online.

Become a giver »
If every person in Ireland gave just €1 per week to their favourite charity, club or association, it could generate over €230 million every year to help improve our communities!
Consider giving regularly via direct debit - a steady stream of income helps your charity, club or association to plan for the future.
Take action:
- Most charities have a donation facility on their website, or on giving services such as www.mycharity.ie or www.sponsor.ie.
- Not sure which charity, club or association to support? Browse the videos on this website to find a cause that appeals to you.
- We all have a jar of coins at home. Why not deposit it in a charity box the next time you go to the supermarket?
-
Leave a legacy »
A legacy is when you leave a sum of money in your will to a charitable cause, club or association. Some people choose to leave their entire estates to charity, but even a small gift can make a big difference.
Perhaps you already have a favourite cause, or maybe you always wanted to do something special for a charity or your local club or association? Remember them in your will and leave a lasting legacy in your community.
Take Action:
To plan your future giving, you can ask your solicitor to include an addition (codicil) onto your will stating the gift you would like to leave to your favourite cause.
