Ray volunteers with Down Syndrome Cork and has had a significant impact on the organisation.

According to Karen in DSCork “He is always thinking about how else to develop DSCork and how to raise much needed income to sustain what is being done. Ray does not just think about today or tomorrow, he thinks about the future and has as a result, brought the Field of Dreams project to life. This is a ground breaking demonstrator project which will give employment to adults with DS in a horticultural setting while at the same time, allowing for the continuing development of education and life skills. The need to promote positive awareness and to create employment opportunities for adults with DS is vitally important. Ray has set the wheels in motion with the Field of Dreams project which he has spear headed with enthusiasm and conviction and which again has taken an enormous amount of his own personal time.”

“Ray has said, he wants the same opportunities for his daughter Grace as there is for his sons. Ray is making sure that those opportunities and choices are there for Grace and for all the other children born with Down syndrome. He has a full time, very demanding job. However, Ray has dedicated an enormous amount of his own personal time to DSCork and has used his managerial skills to develop fundraising strategies and to encourage others to become involved. The day to day management of DSCork is overseen by Ray and the board but Ray is always at the end of the phone to consult with.”
